All About Steel Pty Ltd is an Epping-based steel supplier and services business proudly serving Melbourne and beyond. We supply and transport a wide range of new and reusable steel products, including flat plate sheets, pipes, and RHS (Rectangular Hollow Sections), to clients across the region. As our operations continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled Welder to join our team and contribute to the high-quality steelwork our clients depend on.
About the Role
As a Welder, you will fabricate and repair metal products using various welding techniques. Working with a range of steel products including flat plate, pipe, and structural sections, you will apply your trade expertise to produce work of consistently high quality in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
- Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
- Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
- Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
- Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
Requirements
- AQF Certificate III in Metal Fabrication including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
- Proven experience of at least 1 year as a qualified Welder
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and/or arc welding techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to weld quality and precision
- Current Construction Induction (White Card) — where applicable
- Experience working with flat plate, pipe, and structural steel sections highly regarded
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications
