Little Oink Pty Ltd is a well-established and popular café located in Cook, ACT, known for its high-quality breakfast and brunch offerings, specialty coffee, and welcoming customer experience. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team and contribute to delivering exceptional food and service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
·Plan, prepare and cook a diverse range of café-style breakfast, brunch and lunch menu items, ensuring consistency in quality, taste and presentation.
·Oversee daily kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to ensure smooth service flow.
·Maintain consistency in portion sizes, cooking methods, and presentation, upholding the cafe’s high standards.
·Contribute to developing and refining menu items, incorporating seasonal and fresh ingredients.
·Plan menus and estimate food and labour costs in consultation with management.
·Inspect and ensure the quality of food supplies, ingredients and finished dishes to maintain company standards.
·Monitor food stock levels, place orders, and minimize wastage while maintaining cost control.
·Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensuring efficiency and maintaining a positive team environment.
·Train and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, presentation standards and workplace hygiene requirements.
·Ensure that all cooking equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
·Ensure all food handling, preparation, and storage comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.
·Prepare and present dishes in accordance with Little Oink's menu standards and customer expectations.
·Contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal specials to enhance customer satisfaction and business growth.
Skills & Qualifications:
·Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
·Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef in a similar role.
·Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and ingredient selection.
·Knowledge of modern Australian café cuisine, breakfast and brunch menu preparation.
·Understanding of Australian food safety regulations and compliance requirements.
·Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
·Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
·Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
