Sheetmetal Worker (ANZSCO ****** - Sheetmetal Trades Worker)
Full-time/Permanent
$76,515 - $80,000 (salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience)
Duties and responsibilities:
- Read and apply job sheets, workshop instructions, measurements and customer specifications to complete sheet metal fabrication tasks.
- Prepare metal materials for production, including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other metals used in the company’s fabrication work.
- Use fabrication machinery and workshop equipment to cut, fold, bend, punch, press and process sheet metal components.
- Produce and assemble metal items such as panels, brackets, trays, covers, bins, frames, perforated components and customised sheet metal products.
- Assist with the manufacture of the company’s product range, including purlins, battens, stud framing, scaffold planks, perforated metal products, core trays, street furniture components and other steel items.
- Complete workshop finishing tasks, including drilling, fastening, grinding, deburring, smoothing edges and preparing fabricated products for coating, dispatch or further production.
- Operate CNC machinery, guillotines, folders, presses, punching machines and other fabrication equipment in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Check completed work against job requirements, measurements and customer specifications to ensure the product has been made accurately.
- Identify fabrication errors, material faults, incorrect measurements or equipment issues and report them to the supervisor or production manager.
- Maintain hand tools, machinery and fabrication areas in a clean, safe and organised condition.
- Work with production, sales and dispatch staff to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
- Follow the company’s procedures for workplace safety, material handling, machine operation, quality control and safe lifting.
Qualification:
- AQF Certificate IV or AQF Certificate III, including at least 2 years of on-the-job training
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience, which may substitute for the formal qualification.
- Applicants with qualifications must demonstrate 1 year of relevant experience.
