John Kweh Pty Ltd solely operates a Malaysian and Indonesian Restaurants in Tea Tree Plaza and Rundle Mall Adelaide. We’re looking for a retail manager.

The Retail Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our restaurants, ensuring high standards of customer service, product quality, and staff performance. The role involves managing both front-of-house and back-of-house activities, maintaining profitability, and implementing business strategies aligned with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Tea Tree Plaza store to ensure efficient business performance, customer satisfaction, and the achievement of sales targets.
  2. Supervise, train and support store employees, allocate duties, prepare staff rosters, and monitor employee performance to maintain productivity and service quality.
  3. Recruit new employees according to business requirements and oversee staff induction, training and ongoing development.
  4. Monitor sales trends and customer demand, determine product offerings, maintain appropriate stock levels, and ensure high standards of customer service are consistently achieved.
  5. Manage the purchasing of food ingredients, beverages, packaging materials and other store supplies, ensuring adequate stock availability while minimising wastage and controlling costs.
  6. Oversee inventory control procedures, conduct stocktakes, and investigate stock discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory records.
  7. Evaluate sales performance, operating costs and profit margins, and recommend pricing adjustments and sales strategies to improve store profitability.
  8. Plan and implement local marketing and promotional campaigns, as well as customer engagement initiatives, to increase sales and strengthen brand awareness.
  9. Coordinate social media promotions, online delivery platform campaigns, seasonal marketing activities and in-store promotions to attract new customers and encourage repeat business.
  10. Monitor financial performance, prepare sales and operational reports, and assist in achieving budget and revenue targets.
  11. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and relevant legislative obligations.
  12. Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally, and implement corrective actions to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  13. Liaise with suppliers and service providers regarding purchasing requirements, deliveries and other operational matters.
  14. Maintain store presentation and merchandising standards, ensuring products, displays and service areas are clean, organised and presented in accordance with company expectations.
  15. Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer experience and overall store performance.
  16. Prepare and manage staff rosters to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  17. Supervise store cleanliness and ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety (WHS) and food safety regulations.

Skills & Qualifications

  1. Diploma or higher qualification in Business, Retail, or Hospitality Management or three years of management experience in a food store or similar environment.
  2. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  3. Proven ability to manage budgets, sales targets, and operational efficiency.
  4. Passion for customer service and multicultural cuisine, particularly Malaysian and Indonesian food.
