Overview

We are seeking a full-time Project Estimator to join our team in Revesby. The role is responsible for reviewing tender requirements, interpreting engineering and design documentation, estimating material, labour and service costs, and preparing accurate quotations for client projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients to ensure estimates are accurate, commercially sound and aligned with project requirements.

Core activities & responsibilities

  1. Review pre-estimate tender notifications and comments received
  2. Interpret engineering and design drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  3. Determine material quantities, labour requirements and project cost estimates
  4. Establish suitable manufacturing, testing, preservation, lifting and transport methods
  5. Identify suitable local or offshore supplier options to meet lead times and specifications
  6. Obtain accurate material pricing for major components
  7. Obtain accurate service pricing for subcontracted work
  8. Break down manufacturing tasks and calculate project hours
  9. Enter material, service and labour items into the company estimating system
  10. Establish suitable bid pricing for products and projects
  11. Assemble bid details including materials, services and labour hours for tender review
  12. Circulate bids for internal tender review and coordinate review meetings where required
  13. Address internal tender review comments
  14. Prepare quote letters and review with Contracts where required
  15. Submit quotations to clients and follow up to confirm receipt
  16. Update the quote register with quotation details
  17. Negotiate with clients on price and lead time in conjunction with relevant L&A personnel
  18. Work in accordance with company WH&S, environmental and quality procedures

Experience & qualifications

  1. Experience in project estimating, construction estimating, manufacturing estimating or a similar role
  2. Sound manufacturing, material and supplier knowledge
  3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, design drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  4. Experience calculating material quantities, labour requirements and project costs
  5. Exposure to metal trade manufacturing or engineered-to-order manufacturing preferred
  6. Awareness of mechanical engineering, materials and project documentation
  7. Competent written and spoken English
  8. Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  9. Experience with ERP, estimating or project systems will be highly regarded
  10. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with accuracy under tender timeframes
  11. Ability to communicate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams

Other details

  1. Full-time salaried position
  2. Working days are Monday to Friday
  3. Working hours are generally within a 6am to 5pm operating window
  4. Appropriate workwear, safety and inspection equipment will be provided where required
  5. Training support may be available for work-related vocational study that supports career development in manufacturing
