We are seeking an experienced National Estimation & Design Manager to lead the preparation of competitive, high-quality tenders across complex piling and ground engineering projects nationwide.

This is a senior technical and commercial role, responsible for guiding estimation and design teams, shaping engineering solutions, and ensuring tenders are delivered accurately, competitively, and in line with quality, safety, and environmental standards.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, you will take ownership of tender pricing and design solutions for major civil and piling projects. You will work closely with state-based estimation and design teams, project managers, and external stakeholders to maximise tender success and ensure smooth transition from tender to delivery.

  1. Key Responsibilities
  2. Analyse tender documentation and identify scope, risks, assumptions, and information gaps
  3. Lead and coordinate estimation and design teams to develop cost-effective, compliant engineering solutions
  4. Modify and optimise designs where required to meet client and commercial objectives
  5. Ensure pricing is competitive and within approved commercial parameters
  6. Oversee supplier and material sourcing and maintain supplier reference registers
  7. Coordinate tender submissions with quality, safety, finance, and administration teams
  8. Conduct post-award briefings with state managers and project teams
  9. Maintain tender registers and record client feedback
  10. Ensure full compliance with WHS, environmental, and quality management systems
  11. Promote continuous improvement across estimation, design, and tendering processes

Projects & Scope

You will work across a wide range of piling and ground engineering solutions including:

  1. CFA and bored piles
  2. Retaining walls and sheet piling
  3. Diaphragm walls
  4. Ground improvement works
  5. Associated civil and structural works

About You

You are a commercially astute engineering professional with strong leadership capability and deep experience in civil or piling projects.

You will bring:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Engineering
  2. 5–10+ years’ experience in civil engineering or construction (piling experience preferred)
  3. Strong understanding of tendering processes and major infrastructure projects
  4. Experience with geotechnical and structural design software
  5. Excellent commercial judgement and negotiation skills
  6. High attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
  7. Strong stakeholder engagement skills across clients, contractors, and consultants
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and engineering/design software
  9. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards
