Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in engines, vehicle systems, and related components using advanced diagnostic equipment
- Removing, dismantling, and inspecting engine assemblies, gearboxes, steering systems, and other mechanical parts to determine faults and repair requirements
- Repairing or replacing damaged, faulty, or worn components and reassembling vehicle systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service guidelines
- Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and engine tuning to ensure optimal vehicle performance and compliance with emission standards
- Rebuilding and reinstalling engines, transmissions, and associated components following repairs or overhauls
- Testing, calibrating, and fine-tuning repaired mechanical and electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Utilizing computerized diagnostic tools and scan equipment to assess vehicle performance and detect faults accurately
- Conducting vehicle inspections and preparing reports outlining roadworthiness, safety concerns, and recommended repairs
- Providing roadside breakdown assistance and emergency repair support when required
Skills and Qualifications
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong technical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of modern automotive systems and repair techniques
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team
- Current driver’s licence preferred
