A Religious Assistant supports the clergy and ministry leaders in the daily operations and activities of the church. The role involves assisting with religious services, pastoral care activities, administrative duties, community outreach, and general support to ensure that the church functions effectively and that the congregation’s needs are met.This role is full-time within a church office and worship setting, involving weekend and occasional evening work depending on services and ministry programs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Worship & Service Support
·Assist in preparing for religious services, ceremonies, and events (e.g., setting up communion, baptismal materials, service programs).
·Support clergy during services, including organising readings, music, liturgy resources, and volunteers.
·Maintain the sacred space, worship equipment, and service materials.
2. Pastoral & Ministry Support
·Provide practical support to the minister or pastor in pastoral care activities (e.g., visitation coordination, prayer meetings, small groups).
·Assist in organising church programs such as youth ministry, Bible study groups, community groups, and fellowship activities.
·Help new or visiting members integrate into the congregation.
3. Administration & Office Duties
·Maintain church records, calendars, mailing lists, and membership databases.
·Prepare service sheets, announcements, newsletters, and digital communications.
·Answer enquiries from the public, congregation members, and ministry partners.
·Support with scheduling appointments, meetings, and church events.
4. Community Outreach & Support Services
·Assist with community programs such as food relief, charity drives, visitation teams, or outreach events.
·Support coordination of volunteers and church community projects.
·Facilitate communication with local organisations, charities, and partner ministries.
5. Facility & Resource Management
·Ensure the church premises are prepared for services and events.
·Coordinate access to buildings, equipment, and event spaces.
·Monitor and restock religious resources, printed materials, and supplies.

Qualifications
·Min 3+ work experience in church ministry, administration, or community service
·Basic theological or ministry training
·Working With Children Check (WWCC – required in NSW)
