We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented ICT Systems Test Engineer to join our growing team.
About the Role
As an ICT Systems Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, security, and performance of the College’s ICT systems, applications, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for testing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, auditing, and validating ICT solutions while supporting system upgrades, migrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing, and resolving complex system and software issues.
- Evaluate and resolve technical issues related to installation, maintenance, repair, upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting of desktops, hardware, software, printers, networks, email systems, databases, operating systems, and security platforms.
- Identify inconsistencies, deviations, defects, and high-risk areas while ensuring compliance with established quality assurance and operational procedures.
- Design, develop, execute, and document comprehensive test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for ICT systems and applications.
- Identify, test, and diagnose functionality errors in systems and programming code to ensure performance meets defined quality standards.
- Support hardware and software upgrade projects, system migrations, and technology deployments, including:
- Data backups and recovery
- User profile restorations
- Domain and Group Policy configurations
- Compatibility testing of proprietary applications and device drivers
- Plan, schedule, and conduct quality audits of systems, databases, documentation, and operational processes to ensure compliance with organisational standards.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), testing frameworks, quality control protocols, and technical documentation.
- Maintain detailed reports, configuration change logs, test records, and validation documentation using relevant documentation and reporting tools.
- Perform system architecture assessments and provide recommendations for current and future hardware, software, and infrastructure improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, end-users, vendors, and management to improve awareness and adherence to quality standards, procedures, and security controls.
- Deliver technical training, guidance, and support on applications, workflows, ICT systems, and operational standards.
- Prepare and maintain user guides, technical manuals, maintenance records, and audit documentation.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. A master's Degree is desirable.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in ICT systems testing, quality assurance, technical support, or systems administration.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, quality assurance frameworks, and defect management processes.
- Experience supporting Windows environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, networking, and enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and operating system issues.
- Knowledge of database testing, system integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing.
- Experience with system upgrades, migrations, data backup, and recovery processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive technical documentation and audit reports.
