Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits. Deflector processing facilities consist of a CIP circuit and a second ball mill, along with crushing, grinding, flotation, and dewatering circuits.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the  Fixed Plant Electrician’s primary role is to carry out electrical and instrumentation maintenance of fixed plant, machinery across the plant, site infrastructure, and village. You will be required to actively contribute towards achieving the Company’s vision by demonstrating a clear commitment to safety, ensuring equipment is maintained at a high level of availability.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Working as part of the maintenance team, providing an effective and responsive maintenance function to the production section at Deflector operations.
  • Completing breakdown maintenance tasks as directed by the Supervisor or from Work Order instructions, including attending to call outs when rostered ‘Duty on Call.’
  • Completing statutory maintenance as required by MSI regulations and completing logbook entries.
  • Actively participate in all safety activities and safety meetings.
  • Working safely at all times, using correct personal protective equipment and following safety procedures.
  • Installing and setting up new electrical equipment as required from time to time.
  • Develop and carry out HV switching programs and issue HV permits.
  • Ensure that all electrical work is carried out to a high standard and in an environmentally sound manner.
  • Assessing potential hazards and making the necessary changes to eliminate or control them.
  • Ensure quality of information in CMMS (Pronto) database by providing accurate history, job time, hours worked and feedback to Supervisors.
  • Communicate job progress and delays to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Promote safety and environmental compliance in all maintenance activities.

About You 

  • Trade qualification as Electrician – WA “A” Class Electrical Workers License
  • Previous fixed plant experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and instrumentation installed in wet processing plants
  • Knowledge of WA Electrical regulatory requirements.
  • Cert IV Instrumentation ticket is desirable
  • Cert IV in Hazards Areas-Electrical is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and maintenance systems (Pronto preferred)
  • WA Manual Driver’s Licence (C-Class)
  • HV switching qualification
  • Current CPR/LVR qualifications
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Working at Heights
  • Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
