FMR Investments is a privately owned company specialising in the mining and mining-related sectors, with a strong emphasis on residential and community-based operations. We support permanent, full-time employment based locally in the Goldfields region of Western Australia.
POSITION SUMMARY
FMR Investments is seeking an experienced residential Boilermaker based at our Greenfields Mill, approximately 3km east of Coolgardie. The company provides transport between the site and Coolgardie. This residential (No FIFO) role operates on a 9:5 roster of 10hr day shifts.
ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Boilermaker at our Greenfields Mill, you will be responsible for the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of structural components, chutes, tanks, and other fixed plant infrastructure. This role is essential to ensuring the integrity and operational efficiency of the processing plant. It requires strong technical skills in welding and metal fabrication, a sound understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to work autonomously and within a maintenance team in a demanding and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out structural repairs, modifications, and fabrication tasks across the processing plant.
- Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on chutes, hoppers, tanks, and other fixed assets.
- Weld using MIG, TIG, and stick techniques as required.
- Support shutdown and project work, including replacement and installation of components.
- Collaborate with maintenance planners and supervisors to deliver repair scopes.
- Work to achieve maintenance and shutdown targets in line with operational priorities.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, risk assessments, maintenance planning updates, and permit-to-work processes.
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs including shift handover notes.
- Accurately complete all work orders, service records, inspections, and other documentation in the CMMS, including recording time, materials used, and tasks completed for audits and maintenance reviews.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, permits, and hazard reports.
- Adhere to all company safety, environmental, and maintenance policies, procedures, and standards (including the WHS Act & Regulations).
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and conduct inspections and risk assessments to identify and control hazards.
- Accurately report equipment defects and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and performance, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Be flexible and willing to undertake other site-based tasks or labouring duties as directed.
Equipment
- Welding machines (MIG, TIG, Stick)
- Oxy-acetylene cutting and gouging equipment
- Mobile plant (e.g. EWP, forklift, if ticketed)
- Fixed plant structures: tanks, chutes, conveyors, hoppers
- Power tools: grinders, drills, magnetic base drills, etc.
- Lifting and rigging equipment (slings, shackles, chain blocks)
- Lockout/tagout systems and confined space gear
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Trade Certificate in Fabrication (Boilermaking/Welding).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in metal fabrication.
- Proficient in operating various welding equipment and hand tools.
- Strong understanding of fixed plant equipment and gold processing systems.
- Familiar with preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
- Capable of identifying and troubleshooting equipment faults.
- Demonstrated focus on equipment servicing and ongoing maintenance.
- Pass National Police Check and security clearance for gold handling.
- Reside locally in the Goldfields region of Western Australia (no FIFO available).
- Physically fit and able to work in hot, secure, and confined environments.
- Results driven with strong attention to detail.
- High initiative, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Flexible and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented with ability to effectively collaborate with other trades and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Safety-focused with a commitment to zero harm.
Desirable
- Strong technical knowledge in the gold resource sector operations or mining industry.
- High Risk Work Licence (HRWL).
- Confined Space ticket.
- First Aid or Emergency Response training.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must have full legal rights to work in Australia and the ability to pass a National Police Clearance and fitness to work medical including drug and alcohol screening.
