The Electronic Equipment Trades Worker is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electronic, electromechanical and automated production equipment used throughout COJO Post (The Trustee for The Mailstar Unit Trust)'s mailing, digital print, fulfilment and distribution operations. The role ensures production equipment operates efficiently, accurately and reliably to support high-volume customer communications and fulfilment services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, configure and commission electronic and automated mailing, printing, inserting, wrapping and finishing equipment used within the production facility.

• Inspect, test, diagnose and repair faults in electronic control systems, sensors, barcode scanners, camera matching systems, motors, drives and associated production equipment.

• Carry out preventative maintenance programs on digital printers, envelope inserters, poly-wrapping machines, paper-finishing equipment and automated production lines.

• Test and calibrate electronic components, sensors, controllers and monitoring devices to ensure production accuracy and system reliability.

• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals and equipment specifications to diagnose faults and perform repairs.

• Replace and repair defective electronic assemblies, circuit boards, wiring, motors, relays, switches, sensors and control components.

• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and production output.

• Maintain and troubleshoot barcode scanning, camera verification and intelligent matching systems used in mail production processes.

• Assist with upgrades, modifications and integration of new production equipment and automation systems.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and equipment performance documentation.

• Liaise with equipment manufacturers, service providers and production staff regarding technical issues and equipment performance.

• Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with workplace health and safety requirements, manufacturer specifications and relevant Australian standards.

• Support production teams by providing technical advice and responding promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.

• Maintain inventory of spare electronic components and assist in sourcing replacement parts when required.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant trade qualification in Electronics, Electronic Equipment, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or a related field; or at least 3 years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing automated production or industrial electronic equipment.

• Strong understanding of electronic control systems, sensors, motors, PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.

• Experience using electronic testing equipment and diagnostic tools.

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
