The Team

Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) sits within Inclusion and Engagement Services and plays a critical role in driving reform to every child and student in the Northern Territory can access an inclusive, supportive and high quality education.

SWIPS provides expert advice, guidance and support to schools, families and communities to strengthen inclusive education, student wellbeing and positive behaviour. The team leads strategic reform, delivers specialist programs, and supports system improvement through research, data insights and capability building.

The Role

As the Director Inclusion and Wellbeing Reform, you will provide high level strategic leadership across the design, delivery and implementation of inclusive education and student wellbeing reforms. You will lead the development of system-wide strategies, oversee major reform initiatives, and drive innovation that ensures the NT’s inclusive education model is sustainable, evidence based and responsive to the needs of students, families and schools.

A key part of the role is leading stakeholder engagement across government, schools, communities and external partners to ensure reforms are co-designed, collaborative and grounded in operational realities. You will also oversee critical data and reporting functions, including the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), ensuring insights inform system improvement and resource allocation.

You will lead and develop a high performing team delivering coordinated reform outcomes in a complex, fast paced environment with competing priorities.

About you

You are an experienced strategic leader with a deep understanding of inclusive education, student wellbeing and system reform. You thrive in complex environments, build strong partnerships, and use evidence and data to drive meaningful change.

To be successful, you will bring:

  1. Extensive experience leading strategic reform initiatives in inclusive education, student wellbeing or related fields
  2. Strong knowledge of legislative frameworks and policy settings related to inclusion and wellbeing
  3. Demonstrated leadership capability, including managing teams, resources and competing priorities
  4. Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across diverse stakeholders
  5. High cultural capability and a commitment to delivering culturally responsive education reforms
  6. A current Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) from SAFE NT or ability to obtain.
