Mechanics must be physically fit experienced motor mechanic with good attention to details to work in our busy bus service centre. The primary duties of a mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analysing diagnostic test results, and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components for the fleet of buses and heavy vehicles.

Mechanics need to be highly organized and communicate effectively, as they will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and interact with customers daily.

Mechanic Responsibilities:

  1. General servicing and maintenance of vehicles including checking lighting systems and performing preventative maintenance
  2. Safety inspections, adhering to an inspection procedure checklist
  3. Breakdown and mechanical repairs, providing customers with estimated time for repairs
  4. Running diagnostic tests
  5. Analysing diagnostic test results
  6. Repairing and replacing dysfunctional parts
  7. Repairing, maintaining, and replacing vehicles engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
  8. Road Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
  9. Wheel alignments/wheel balancing
  10. Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles and a parts inventory
  11. Maintaining equipment and tools, and a clean working environment
  12. Conducting quality checks on all work

Mechanic Requirements:

  1. Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  2. ASE Diesel Certification advantageous.
  3. Valid driver's license.
  4. Aptitude for mathematics and science.
  5. Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
  6. Good IT and diagnostic skills.
  7. Physically fit and able to lift up to 150 pounds.
  8. Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
  9. Attention to detail.
  10. Good interpersonal skills.
  11. Excellent verbal communication skills.
  12. Good organization skills.
