Location: Irrewillipe Victoria 3249

Located in South West Victoria we are a family owned and operated dairy farm. We milk 1200 cows. We are hiring a dairy cattle farm worker who believes dairy farming is a profession and will be able to undertake the following responsibilities:

Milk Harvesting

 Ensure all cows are milked in accordance with farm procedure

 Identify and correct problems in the machine function and operation as they arise. Identify

and correct unsafe and unacceptable milking practices.

 Report any animal health issues or concerns directly to the herd manager

 Perform cleaning process according to procedure and to prepare for the next milking.

Feed Management and Delivery

 Set up, operate and monitor concentrate feed delivery equipment at dairy and elsewhere on

farm. Oversee the processing of concentrates to deliver the prescribed ration.

 Assist in the management of stored feed inventory

 Assist in ensuring animals are always fully fed

 Feed out hay/silage to animals when required including feeding out with silage wagon

 Assist with grazing management

Pasture Production and Cropping

 Ensured selected paddocks to remain locked up for forage conservation.

 Assist with paddock preparation prior to sowing to ensure optimal results

 Assist in fertiliser application and following grazing management around application

 Assist in weed and pest management control

Plant Equipment and Infrastructure Maintenance

 Assist management to maintain farm vehicles and equipment.

 Upkeep maintenance and good housekeeping for farm buildings including shedding and

diary etc.

 Maintain fencing, laneways, drainage and shelter belts.

 Assist in the maintenance and development of stock handling facilities, shedding and feeding

areas.

 Assist with the dairy maintenance schedule including replacement of rubberware, routine

machine testing and maintenance of equipment.

 Assist with any capital project management on farm

Other day-to-day tasks and duties

 Collect cows from paddock to the dairy using machinery supplied and operate it within the

farm guidelines. Set up tracks and gates for next grazing. Bring cows from paddock to milking

shed according to farm procedure.

 Check and start the milking system, milk cooling, refrigeration, washing and feed system.

Cup up cows after attending to appropriate udder hygiene.

 Remove cups from cows following the standard operating procedures (SOP).

 Prepare and apply teat disinfectant for use according to SOP.

 Oversee the movement of cows from the dairy.

 At the completion of milking, follow the procedures for plant cleaning and the shutdown

process. Prepare the dairy in readiness for the next milking according to the set guidelines.

 Participate in cattle mustering, drafting, transport. Adhere to farm policy on handling and

welfare of stock.

 Load and feed out conserved fodder using farm machinery either in paddock, hay feeders or

troughs.

 Assist with monitoring young stock

 Work as part of the existing farm team to safely perform daily tasks to a high standard

We are looking for workers who have minimum 36 months working experiences in dairy farming or

hold a certificate in agriculture.

This is a full-time position and you may be required to work on weekends or public holidays.

Remuneration will be based on experiences according to the Pastoral Award 2020
