Sushi Train Indooroopilly Junction is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will work alongside the Chef to assist with food preparation and kitchen management. This role requires an energetic approach to delivering high-quality Japanese cuisine. Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work as an integral member of the kitchen team to produce high quality Japanese cuisine dishes
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Selecting and preparing ingredients, portioning food, seasoning, marinating if necessary, and using proper cooking techniques and equipment to ensure high quality food
- Create dressings and sauces for recipes.
- Use kitchen equipment including grills, ovens, deep fryers, fridges, freezers, mixers and preparation implements
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen by properly storing and handling ingredients, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ensure meticulous attention to food detail and quality control.
- Be punctual, reliable, and an excellent communicator.
- Adhere to food hygiene and work safety standards.
Must work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations. This includes coordinating meal preparation and cooking schedules, communicating effectively, and assisting team members as needed
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a cook.
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
- Great communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to understand cooking methods, handling of ingredients, and use of seasonings to provide high-quality dishes. Japanese cuisine experience is desirable and food safety knowledge is essential.
- Strong work ethic and customer service approach.
- Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to navigate basic systems.
- A la carte experience is highly regarded.
- Ability to handle ingredients, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, and work according to hygiene standards.
- Ability to propose creative ideas such as developing new dishes or menus, and presenting dishes in an appealing manner.

Pay: $77,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
