We are seeking two experienced and dedicated Cooks to join our kitchen team. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who are passionate about Italian cuisine and thrive in a busy hospitality environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare, cook, and present a variety of menu items in accordance with recipes, menu requirements, and customer orders.
  2. Use a range of cooking methods such as grilling, frying, roasting, baking, steaming, and sautéing.
  3. Assist in menu planning and provide input on daily specials and food presentation as required.
  4. Ensure food is prepared and presented to a high standard of quality, consistency, and freshness.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen workstations, preparation areas, and storage facilities in compliance with food safety standards.
  6. Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures, including safe handling of food, equipment, and utensils.
  7. Monitor stock levels, assist with stock rotation, and report ordering needs to management to avoid shortages and wastage.
  8. Receive, inspect, and store food supplies appropriately to maintain quality and freshness.
  9. Assist and support junior kitchen staff during food preparation and service when required.
  10. Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  11. Assist in controlling food costs through portion control and minimizing wastage.
  12. Respond to kitchen operational needs to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
  13. Perform other duties consistent with the role of Cook.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 1 year of full-time relevant work experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
  2. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher relevant qualification in Culinary Arts or Hospitality-related field.
  3. Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.
  4. Strong understanding of food hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.
  5. Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
  6. Well-developed skills in food preparation, presentation, portion control, and adherence to recipe specifications.
  7. Ability to assist and support kitchen staff, including junior team members, during food preparation and service when required.
  8. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet service deadlines.
  9. Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate smoothly with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  10. Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and performance under pressure while managing multiple tasks.
