About the Role

We are currently seeking a passionate and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play an important role in day-to-day kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, cooking, plating, stock management, and maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety standards during busy service periods.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and has experience preparing a variety of Italian and modern Australian dishes while maintaining consistency, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, cook, and present a range of menu items including woodfired pizzas, pasta dishes, risottos, seafood, grilled meats, breakfast items, burgers, and desserts
  2. Assist with food preparation and mise en place for lunch and dinner service periods
  3. Monitor cooking times, seasoning, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality standards are maintained
  4. Operate kitchen equipment safely including pizza ovens, grills, fryers, stovetops, and preparation equipment
  5. Assist with stock rotation, ingredient storage, and ordering requirements in accordance with kitchen procedures
  6. Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
  7. Minimise food wastage through effective portion control and stock handling practices
  8. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, preparation areas, and equipment
  9. Assist senior kitchen staff with menu preparation and daily kitchen operations
  10. Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction
  11. Support junior staff where required and contribute to a positive team environment

Requirements

  1. Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management or at least three years of relevant commercial cooking experience
  2. Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment
  3. Experience preparing Italian cuisine, pizzas, pasta, and grill-based dishes will be highly regarded
  4. Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
  5. Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and consistency
  6. Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
  7. Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
  8. A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a team-focused kitchen environment
