Position Description / Key Responsibilities:
Planning and preparing nutritious meals for elderly residents
Cooking according to dietary requirements and care plans
Preparing texture-modified foods (soft, minced, pureed diets)
Ensuring food safety and hygiene compliance
Supervising cooks, kitchen assistants, and food service staff
Monitoring food quality, portion control, and presentation
Ordering and managing stock and kitchen supplies
Minimising food waste and controlling kitchen costs
Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas
Following infection control procedures common in aged care environments
Working with dietitians, nurses, and care staff regarding resident nutrition
Preparing meals in large quantities while maintaining consistency
Managing meal service schedules for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
Ensuring compliance with Australian aged care quality standards
Training junior kitchen staff where required
