About the Role
Harrow & Harvest Cafe is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team in Lilydale, Victoria. Operating from a beautifully restored historic church, the café is known for its high-quality brunch offerings, welcoming atmosphere, and consistent food standards.
This full-time role is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced café environment and takes pride in preparing and presenting high-quality meals.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes in accordance with established recipes and instructions.
- Quality Control: Examine foodstuffs to ensure freshness and quality before and during preparation.
- Temperature Regulation: Operate and regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment to ensure proper cooking.
- Seasoning & Cooking Process: Season food during preparation and cooking to maintain consistent taste and quality.
- Plating & Presentation: Portion food, plate meals, and add appropriate gravies, sauces, and garnishes in line with presentation standards.
- Food Storage: Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and ensure proper stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise wastage.
- Dietary Requirements: Prepare meals in accordance with special dietary requirements as directed (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free).
- Kitchen Operations Support: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen in compliance with food safety standards.
- Menu & Food Preparation Support: Assist in menu planning and estimating food requirements under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
- Team Support & Training: Provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff and apprentices as required.
What We’re Looking For
·Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
·At least 1 year of relevant work experience as a Cook
·Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations
·Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
·Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
·Good communication and teamwork skills
·Positive attitude and willingness to learn
