Cook - Asian Cuisine

Thai La-Ong Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Cook to join our restaurant in Newtown, NSW.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking Thai cuisine in a busy commercial kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.

Duties include:

1. preparing and cooking authentic Thai dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards;
2. conducting daily mise en place and ingredient preparation;
3. preparing sauces, stocks and accompaniments;
4. operating commercial kitchen equipment including wok stations;
5. maintaining food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards;
6. assisting with stock rotation and kitchen organisation; and
7. working effectively during busy lunch and dinner service periods.

Applicants should have:

1. experience preparing Thai cuisine in a commercial kitchen environment;
2. experience using commercial kitchen equipment and wok cooking techniques;
3. sound knowledge of Thai ingredients, herbs, spices and traditional cooking techniques;
4. the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Experience preparing regional Thai cuisine, including Northern, Central, Southern or Isaan-style dishes, will be highly regarded.

Ability to communicate with Thai-speaking kitchen staff and suppliers will be an advantage.

This is a full-time position based in Newtown, NSW.

Salary: $77,000 – $80,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
