ABOUT THE ROLE
Fresh Start is seeking a compassionate, motivated and community-focused Community Support Worker to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity, reporting directly to the CEO.
In this role, you will support individuals, families and community groups through the development and delivery of welfare, education and support services. You will play a key role in facilitating community development initiatives and implementing collaborative solutions to address a range of social, health, housing, employment and welfare-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess client needs and develop, coordinate and implement educational, training and support programs
- Conduct client interviews and assess social, emotional, financial and welfare-related concerns
- Monitor, evaluate and report on client progress and outcomes in conjunction with our Caring & Growth team.
- Refer clients to appropriate agencies and service providers for additional support and assistance
- Assess community needs and available resources relating to health, housing, welfare, employment and training services
- Liaise with community groups, welfare agencies, government departments and private organisations to promote awareness of available services and address community issues
- Facilitate community development initiatives and encourage participation, engagement and collective problem-solving
- Support individuals and families through community-based programs that promote wellbeing, independence and social inclusion
- Assist clients in addressing social, emotional, behavioural and financial challenges
- Supervise and support offenders on probation and parole where required
- Advocate on behalf of clients and assist them in accessing appropriate community resources and support services
- Prepare funding submissions, grant applications and reports for government bodies and relevant agencies
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes and program documentation in line with organisational policies and legislative requirements
- Participate in community outreach activities, awareness campaigns and support programs

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
- Strong understanding of community services, welfare systems and support networks
- Well-developed organisational, problem-solving and case management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement
- Demonstrated empathy, resilience and a client-centred approach
Qualifications:
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or equivalent. Community Support Worker
Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in a relevant occupation (community services, welfare support, case management, or social services is highly regarded).
