About Us:

Welcome to The Perth Mint, where golden career opportunities await.

The Perth Mint is an iconic Western Australian organisation operating on a truly global scale. Situated in East Perth for over 125 years, The Perth Mint is a premier tourist destination, an award-winning exporter, and a key supplier of precious metals to markets throughout the world. Our purpose is ‘to bring the wonder of precious metals to the world’.

There’s no organisation quite like it, with a variety of roles available, from engineers and chemists to artists and technicians.

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for someone ready to step straight in, joining us in a permanent, full-time role based at our refinery site near the Perth Airport.

This is a hands-on laboratory role where your work is critical to the accuracy and integrity of our results. Working closely with the Manager Technical Laboratory, you’ll commission and validate instrumentation and analytical methods, support daily testing, and help ensure everything we deliver meets the highest standards.

You’ll balance technical work with coordination - supporting quality control, compliance activities, and continuous improvement across the lab. You’ll also play a key role in building team capability, contributing to training, competency assessments, and consistent ways of working across instrumental and fire assay teams.

It’s a role that combines precision, problem solving, and collaboration, ideal for someone who enjoys improving systems while staying close to the detail.

Roster:

To ensure consistent coverage across our rotating schedule, candidates must be able to commit to the set three-week roster cycle, which includes:

  • Weeks 1–3: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Weeks 4–6: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Weeks 7–9: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

The rotation repeats every nine weeks, and reliability in following this structure is essential for the role.

About You:

You have a strong background in laboratory science, with experience in analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry - ideally within mining or precious metals. Exposure to ICP and XRF instruments, fire assay, and method validation will set you up for success.

You’re detail oriented, organised, and confident managing priorities across testing, calibration, and compliance. When issues arise, you approach them calmly and methodically.

You also enjoy supporting others - sharing knowledge, contributing to training, and helping build capability across the team.

Most importantly, you take ownership of your work and are committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. A relevant tertiary qualification and practical laboratory experience are essential.

Our Benefits:

  • Competitive salaries and employee discounts
  • Opportunity to work for an endorsed WORK180 employer
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Opportunities to be part of our wide and active range of Employee Resourcing Groups: Reconciliation, Gender, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Disability, Mental Health and Neurodiversity, and Perth Mint with Pride
  • Charity and volunteer initiatives
  • Health and wellness programs, including an Employee Assistance Program, ongoing wellbeing initiatives, and workplace community building spaces
  • Our full list of benefits and why we are recognised as an Endorsed Employer for Women by WORK180 can be seen on the WORK180 website

It’s easy to dismiss the perfect opportunity if you don’t see yourself as the perfect fit. If this role feels right, no matter your background or personal circumstances – please submit your application.

Applications close on 1 July 2026. The Perth Mint reserves the right to close applications prior to this date.

Candidates must have the right to work in Australia and pass our national security check.
