The Trustee for Niranjan and Brothers trading as Dee Dee’s Cafe is a popular local cafe restaurant located at 1/206 Main South Road, Morphett Vale, South Australia 5162. We are known for our freshly prepared hearty breakfasts, lunches, and signature dishes created using fresh local ingredients. As part of our business expansion, we are now introducing a dedicated dinner service to meet growing customer demand during evening trading hours. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to play a key role in establishing and leading our dinner kitchen operations while also supporting our lunch service in a fast-paced and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of cafe-style dishes, lunch meals, dinner service items, and daily specials
- Assist in developing and implementing the new dinner menu and evening kitchen operations
- Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards across lunch and dinner services
- Supervise kitchen operations, including food preparation, portion control, and stock management
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards
- Support and train junior kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations and high service standards
- Assist with menu development and food cost control
- Coordinate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth lunch and dinner service operations
Skills & Experience Required
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Chef in a cafe, restaurant, or commercial kitchen environment
- Experience in lunch and dinner service operations preferred
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and kitchen hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and support kitchen staff
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and varying rostered shifts as required
