Position Title: Chef
Location: Liverpool, NSW
Employment Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)
Salary Range: $76,515 – $85,000 per annum + superannuation
Seeking an experienced Chef to join our team at Hello Moose Cafe.
We are a busy, family friendly cafe with an international inspired menu ( middle eastern, Turkish and Australian).
The successful candidate will work within our commercial kitchen to prepare high-quality meals while maintaining efficiency, consistency, and high food safety standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and design menus in line with business concept, seasonal availability, and customer demand.
- Prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes consistently to established standards.
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes across breakfast, lunch and catering service.
- Monitor portion control and presentation standards to minimise waste and maintain quality.
- Estimate food and labour costs and assist with stock control and ordering supplies.
- Select, train and supervise kitchen staff, including apprentices and kitchen hands.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, WHS regulations, and hygiene requirements.
- Inspect food preparation and storage areas to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Manage kitchen operations during service, ensuring efficiency and timely delivery of meals.
- Adapt menus to meet dietary requirements and special customer requests.
- Maintain supplier relationships and ensure quality of raw ingredients.
- Contribute to new recipe development and seasonal menu updates.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 2 years full-time experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Sound understanding of HACCP and food safety compliance
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications (not mandatory):
- Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management
- Diploma of Hospitality Management
- Experience in menu development, food cost control or stock ordering
