Your part in our St Stephens team

Across our Hospitals, Chefs (Trade Cook) work under the direction of our Head Chef or Sous Chef in the preparation of meals and to ensure the dining experience of all customers are to the highest quality in flavour, presentation and service. You will:

• Prepare all meals in accordance to the recipes provided to achieve a high standard hospitality experience for all customers

• Ensure a high standard of hygiene and safety throughout the food services department that complies with the hospital food safety program

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of HACCP principles in accordance with food safety

• Maintain consistent production and minimise food wastage by the use of appropriate stock control waste management systems

• Clean and maintain all equipment, benches, cupboards, refrigerators and floors ensuring all hygiene standards are in accordance with the hospital food safety program

What makes a difference for us?

• Certificate III in commercial Cookery or equivalent skills from previous experience

• Great communication skills and excellent attention to detail

• Understanding of Australian food and beverage standards

• Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies

• Willingness to obtain required vaccinations in line with hospitals infection control requirements, as well as undergo national criminal history check and functional assessment
