Full time chef - Middle Eastern Kitchen (Salma Restaurant)

Position: Full time Chef

Hours: 38 hours/ week

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year + Superannuation

Availability: Fully available Wednesday to Sunday

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Chef with a strong background in Arabic cuisine and culinary culture. The ideal candidate will have the skills to lead our kitchen and the heart to embrace and uphold our cultural values as part of the Salma team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare fresh, high-quality dishes daily

• Prepare Middle Eastern Dips, Patisserie, Main dishes

• Prepare traditional Arabic dishes in the menu from scratch

• Be on top of food trends and contribute new ideas

• Ensure food quality, hygiene, and safety standards

• Monitor food production, portioning, and stock levels

• Manage kitchen staff and rostering

• Stock control and cost management

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a chef specializing in Middle Eastern cuisine

• In-depth knowledge of Lebanese and Middle Eastern dishes and preparation methods

• Strong skills in preparing Arabic breakfasts, lunches, and dinners

• Proven ability to create a wide range of mezze, dips, and signature main dishe

• Experience in making Arabic pastries from scratch, including kibbeh, fatayer, and sambousek

• Up to date with culinary trends and efficient kitchen workflows

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Able to perform well in a fast-paced kitchen environment

• Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team

• Must have legal working rights in Australia

• Willing and available to work a rotating roster, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays
