Caeli Kitchen is seeking a skilled and passionate full-time Chef to join our team at our café-restaurant in Yeronga, Brisbane.
Caeli Kitchen is a fresh and vibrant neighbourhood café-restaurant offering eclectic cuisine inspired by bold Middle Eastern flavours and a warm Mediterranean twist. Our menu includes brunch, lunch, coffee, house-made items, seasonal specials, and dishes prepared with care, quality ingredients, and attention to presentation.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes consistent with Caeli Kitchen’s menu, standards, and culinary style.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes in accordance with Caeli Kitchen’s menu, recipes, presentation standards, and food quality requirements.
- Plan, organise, and coordinate food preparation and cooking activities in a busy café-restaurant kitchen.
- Assist with menu planning, daily specials, and the development of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Estimate food and labour requirements and assist with ordering food supplies.
- Manage stock rotation, portion control, food wastage, and kitchen inventory.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Train, guide, and supervise junior kitchen staff where required.
- Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Skills and Experience Required
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Chef in a café, restaurant, or similar food service environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
- Experience with Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, brunch, café, or contemporary restaurant cuisine is required.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Strong attention to detail, presentation, consistency, and quality.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Availability to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.
