About the Role

Tequila N Tacos is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join the kitchen team of our vibrant Mexican-inspired restaurant in Port Noarlunga, SA. This full-time role is suited to a passionate culinary professional with strong commercial cooking skills who can maintain high food standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The successful candidate will assist in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, menu support, stock handling, kitchen compliance, and service coordination while ensuring consistency, presentation, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The role also involves supporting junior kitchen staff, maintaining workplace health and safety standards, and contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the restaurant through professionalism, teamwork, and strong organisational skills.

Job Responsibilities

1.Preparing and cooking authentic Mexican-inspired meals in accordance with restaurant standards and recipes.

2.Assisting with menu planning, daily specials, and food presentation.

3.Monitoring food quality, portion control, taste, and presentation during preparation and service.

4.Supporting kitchen operations during busy service periods to ensure timely meal delivery.

5.Assisting with stock ordering, stock rotation, food storage, and minimising wastage.

6.Inspecting ingredients and prepared dishes to ensure freshness and compliance with food safety standards.

7.Maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures in line with WHS regulations.

8.Assisting in training and supporting junior kitchen staff and apprentices.

9.Demonstrating professional cooking techniques and maintaining efficient kitchen workflow.

10. Coordinating with front-of-house staff and management to ensure smooth service operations.

11. Maintaining kitchen equipment and ensuring workstations remain clean and operational.

12. Assisting with customer dietary requirements and special meal requests where required.

What you must have:

·Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.

·Minimum 1 year of full-time relevant experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.

·Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.

·Ability to prepare and cook meals efficiently while maintaining high quality and presentation standards.

·Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and WHS requirements.

·Experience with stock handling, food storage, and minimising food wastage.

·Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and during busy service periods.

·Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills.

·Ability to follow restaurant recipes, procedures, and kitchen standards consistently.

·A positive attitude, reliability, and passion for hospitality and customer satisfaction.
