Duties and Responsibilities – Carpenter

As a Carpenter at Caliber Builders, you will be an integral part of our residential construction team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality homes across NSW, VIC, and Queensland. You will be expected to apply your trade skills in a practical, hands-on environment while working collaboratively with our site teams to achieve excellent building outcomes.

· Work on custom residential building projects by accurately interpreting architectural drawings, plans, and specifications to guide all carpentry activities on site.

· Carry out framing work for residential structures, including walls, ceilings, roof trusses, and eaves, ensuring structural accuracy and alignment with project requirements.

· Take responsibility for setting out and assembling timber structures, including flooring systems, internal partitions, external walls, staircases, and decking components.

· Install doors, windows, and fixtures such as handles, locks, and hinges, ensuring precise fitting and smooth functionality in line with Caliber Builders’ quality standards.

· Perform on-site adjustments and problem-solving where required, ensuring construction issues are addressed promptly to maintain project timelines and build integrity.

· Undertake repair and renovation work on existing residential structures, including replacing damaged or deteriorated timber and restoring structural components where needed.

· Assist in the preparation and installation of formwork for concrete works, contributing to the structural foundation and finishing stages of residential builds.

· Collaborate closely with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to ensure smooth coordination of work across all stages of construction.

· Maintain a strong focus on workmanship, ensuring all carpentry tasks are completed with precision, durability, and attention to detail consistent with high-end residential builds.

· Actively follow workplace health and safety procedures on all Caliber Builders sites, contributing to a safe and well-managed construction environment.

· Support the overall project delivery process by adapting to varying site conditions, workload priorities, and construction timelines as required.

This role requires a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute positively to a professional and client-focused construction environment.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role at Caliber Builders, you will bring a strong foundation of carpentry skills, practical site experience, and a commitment to high-quality residential construction work.

· Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent trade qualification) and proven experience as a qualified carpenter in residential construction.

· Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to deliver accurate on-site work.

· Hands-on experience across key carpentry tasks including framing, roofing, flooring, partitions, stair construction, and general structural work.

· Sound knowledge of Australian building standards, WHS requirements, and safe use of carpentry tools and equipment.

· Experience in installing doors, windows, fixtures, and completing high-quality finishing and repair work.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a site-based team, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

· Physically fit and capable of working in a demanding construction environment while maintaining high workmanship standards.

Desirable:

· Experience in custom or high-end residential construction and/or formwork work.

· Valid White Card (Construction Induction Training) for work on Australian construction sites.
