About the Position:

Professional Health Care Services is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the daily operations of our accounts team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a seamless experience for both our internal team and clients.

You will work closely with the other accounts team and report directly to the head of operation, contributing to the smooth running of our financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, reports, and ledgers to ensure accuracy and compliance for internal reporting.
  2. Maintain accurate financial records, including processing and reconciling transactions across accounting systems.
  3. Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  4. Assist with financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  5. Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, payment tracking, bank statements, and account reconciliations.
  6. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee and operational payments.
  7. Process end-to-end payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Fair Work regulations, Australian payroll legislation and organisational policies.
  8. Maintain and update payroll systems, including Shift Care and Xero, ensuring accurate recording of employee information, salaries, superannuation, PAYG tax, and leave entitlements.
  9. Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation requirements, and statutory obligations.
  10. Maintain internal control systems to ensure compliance and protect organisational assets.

Selection Criteria / Requirements

  1. Minimum of 3 year of experience in accounting or related roles
  2. Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
  3. Strong experience in financial reporting, reconciliations and audit readiness
  4. Demonstrated experience managing complex revenue streams and financial controls
  5. Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory compliance
  6. Experience leading and developing teams
  7. Advanced financial systems and Excel capability
  8. Experience within a government-funded, regulated, NFP or NDIS environment (highly regarded)
